We’re just back from a lovely break in Italy – our very belated “summer” holiday so I thought I’d share some little instagram snaps.
Our first stop was Bologna, where we ate ourselves silly,
and rambled around soaking up some history and plenty of lovely sunshine.
We loved Bologna. It’s a university city full of students and this seems to add to its bustling, fun atmosphere, and the food was just incredible.
Next up was a short stop in Siena which I think was my favourite part of the trip. The center of the old town has been declared a World Heritage Site, and is really beautiful and atmospheric.
We hired bikes in Siena and cycled to Vagliagli, a teeny little town about 17km away, through some beautiful ( and hilly!) countryside.
We finished off our trip (and our waistlines!) with a few days in Florence which was gorgeous and jam packed with art and history.
Unfortunately there was a strike on at the Uffizi so we didn’t make it in there, but that just means we have a excuse to visit again!
